An Affidavit of Witness captures the testimony of a person who has relevant knowledge about a case but is providing it in written form rather than (or in preparation for) appearing in court.
It is essentially "testimony on paper."
This is commonly used in pre-trial motions, insurance investigations, or when a witness is unavailable to appear in person due to distance or illness. It freezes the witness's story in time, preventing them from changing their story later without facing credibility issues. It must be detailed, factual, and based on personal observation.
