Biometrics: Fingerprints, Iris scans, and Photographs can only be updated offline due to the requirement of specialized scanners.

Mobile Number & Email: For security reasons, you cannot link a new mobile number online; you must provide biometrics at a center.

Name, Gender, and Date of Birth: These require strict verification of original documents by an official.

The Hybrid Approach: Appointment Booking

To bridge the gap, UIDAI offers an online appointment booking facility.

You can choose the date, time, and center online, which significantly reduces the waiting time when you arrive at the physical location for your biometric or demographic update.

Fee Structure and Acknowledgement

Whether online or offline, every update generates a URN (Update Request Number).

Demographic updates usually cost ₹50, while biometric updates (with or without demographic changes) cost ₹100.
