Locating an Enrolment Centre
To apply for a new Aadhaar or update existing information, one must visit a physical Aadhaar Enrolment Centre or Aadhaar Seva Kendra (ASK).
These centres are spread across the country in banks, post offices, and dedicated government buildings.
Using the UIDAI Portal to Locate Centres
The most reliable way to find a centre is through the UIDAI official website under the 'Locate an Enrolment Centre' section.
You can search by:
- State
- Postal (PIN) Code
- Search Box (District/Locality).
The Difference Between ASK and Permanent Enrolment Centres
Aadhaar Seva Kendras (ASK) are large, modern facilities operated directly by UIDAI or through approved partners.
They offer a more streamlined, airport-like experience with token systems and dedicated help desks.
Permanent Enrolment Centres in banks and post offices are smaller and may have limited slots per day.
Bhuvan Aadhaar Portal
For a visual and geographical search, the ISRO-powered Bhuvan Aadhaar portal allows citizens to find the nearest centre using GPS coordinates and maps.
This is highly useful for residents in rural areas looking for the closest town with an active centre.
What to Check Before Visiting
Before heading to a centre, ensure it is a 'Permanent' centre and not a temporary camp.
Check the working hours, which are typically from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
It is highly recommended to book an appointment online to avoid long queues.
